Do these 5 things regularly and you will live a happy life

by Daniel Nkado

I do not believe happiness is a choice (please refer to this article) as we cannot really control what and how we feel, but there are certain changes we can make in the way we think and live that will definitely help us achieve a state of good mental balance.

Some of them are:

1. Quit comparing yourself to others

Comparing yourself to others means you are living to the standards of other people and that’s one of the sure ways to constantly feel miserable and broken. Life is individual for everyone and our passion, biology and attitudes to life differ widely. Learning to be comfortable with who you are is a great way of achieving mental sanity.

2. Quit overthinking things

Do you know that people don’t think about you as much as you think they do. Not everything is as serious as you see them. Realizing this will help you live your life with more peace and calm and laugh more about things that you would ordinarily feel stressed about.

3. Stay away from toxic people

Learn to immediately avoid people and things that make you think poorly of yourself. Whether friends or family, or someone you are in a relationship with, once they don’t make feel accepted and respected, you must avoid them.

4. Learn to find pleasure in small things

If the things that excite you are always so expensive and pricey, you will keep struggling to afford them. That alone can add additional stress to your life. Finding pleasure in small, inexpensive things that are not so hard to find will help you smile more frequently.

5. Live according to your means

Wear, eat and use the things you can afford while you remain committed to your growth. Do not subject your little poor life to the weighty stress of struggling to impress others. Anyone that is not comfortable with the real you is not worth a speck of your time to begin with.
