Almost every Nigerian pronounces this word wrong!

by Staff writer

From 'salmon' to 'alumni', there are just a lot of words whose pronunciations are not often gotten right by non-native English speakers.

But top on this list seems to be this very commonly-used word:

Liquor, as in an alcoholic drink such as whisky, is often called out as LIKWOR by many.

Some also say LIKWA.

But really the right thing to say is LIKA.

Yes, according to Cambridge Dictionary, the right way to pronounce 'liquor' is /ˈlɪk.ər/ .
