All of you saying it is ‘brisket bone’, answer this…

by Staff writer

Last week the Nigerian online environment was hot with a recent discovery.

Biscuit bone is wrong. The correct thing to say is brisket bone.

Na so.

All of you that screamed and kept sharing that post obviously do not know how language works.

Not every word or phrase, jargon or slang, have an English origin.

Not everything we say is derived from English, or must have an English meaning.

There are just many things we say that could have only been just random sounds, emotional exclamations, mimicry, or just personal narratives.

Someone could have eaten cooked cartilage and deduced it tasted like biscuit and right after started using ‘biscuit bone’ to refer to it.

To all of you saying ‘brisket bone’ is the correct word, now what other mistakes got us into using these ones too:

Ponmo

Shaki

Canda

Tozo

Roundabout

Shock absorber

Appian way

Tinko

Bogo

Ishan

Towel

Ngwogwo

Showboy

Brokoto

Gearbox

Homework

and a whole lot of others?
