by Staff writer

Heartbreak is a term used to describe that crushing sadness, anguish and distress caused by pains and strains of love.

The experience of a heartbreak can be so intense that some scientists suggest it feels the same as physical pain.

According to one study, the brain of a heartbroken person shows the same activity as when extreme heat is applied on the arm.

In fact, science has found it is even possible that people can die of a broken heart.

Chest pain and shortness of breath are common symptoms of broken heart syndrome, a condition in which emotional stress and a troubled mind severely affect the heart.

Do the ugly feelings of a heartbreak ever get better?

Short answer is YES, but science is yet find out exactly how long it takes for one to completely heal.

There’s a well-known theory that after half the length of a relationship passes, you’ll be good as new (in other words, if you dated for a year, you’ll be fine in 6 months).

But despite widespread references, enough evidence does not yet exist to back up the claim.

In fact, according to a new study, there’s no exact length of time it takes to get over a breakup!

In one study, doctors found that no progress has been made regarding the recovery of patients suffering from heartbreak after four months.

Four whole months!

Fortunately, all broken hearts eventually heal and it has even been proven that getting over a heartbreak makes one emotionally stronger!
