IGBO WOMAN:

Customer: Madam, how much is your yam?


Igbo Woman: Just N1000, nne.


Customer: For this small yam, sell 250 jor.

Igbo Woman
: Awu, fine girl, considering how beautiful you are I would have given you for free, but you know that dollar has gone up now. Ordinary 5kg fertilizer now na N5,000 for market.

Customer: Madam please it’s okay. Bring one for me.

Igbo Woman: Just one? Buy more na.

Customer: I just want one.

Igbo Woman: Okay. But I must tell you that yam is scarce now o. By tomorrow, the price would have gone up o. Buy more.

YORUBA WOMAN:

Customer: Madam, how much is your yam?

Yoruba Woman: 1,000

Customer: For this small yam, sell 250 jor.

Yoruba Woman: Looks the girl from head to toe.

Then she turns to her neighbour. “Abeg Iya Tosin, help me look after my shop, I done commot.”

Customer approaches Iya Tosin. “Please where did she go to?”

Iya Tosin: Ah, she done go Ilorin o. She want to go and see her daughter that recently delivered of a baby. She will be back next month.

  1. So true. One day I had to ask one whether we are quarelling, some will even curse you if care is not taken. Igbo traders will pet you till you buy their goods.
